Uganda produces Arabica and Robusta coffee in three primary regions: Buganda region, the Elgon Highlands and the Muhabura Highlands in the South West. There are four main types of coffee beans used globally: Arabica, Robusta, Liberica, and Excelsa. Arabica and Robusta are the most common, making up over 99% of the world’s coffee production. While other species like Liberica and Excelsa exist, they are less prevalent.
